Web developer · Event producer · Volunteer

I build things for the web, the real world, and the people around me.

I'm Jack Tracy — a developer, event producer and Scout volunteer. Most of my time is spent making ideas clearer, systems simpler, and ambitious things actually happen.

About me

Usually building, organising or fixing something.

My work sits somewhere between technology, creativity and operations. I like taking ideas that are a little messy and turning them into something clear, useful and properly delivered.

Professionally, I work across web development and live events. I run Hex, a web development agency, and Six Side Events, an event production business. They are quite different on the surface, but both are really about the same thing: solving problems, making good decisions, and getting the details right.

I enjoy the point where creative ideas meet practical delivery — whether that's a website that needs to feel effortless, an event with a hundred moving parts, or a team that just needs a clearer way forward.

Outside of work, a significant part of my time goes into Scouts. That has taken me into leadership, events, technology, communications and operational roles, and means I regularly work with people across very different parts of the organisation.

Scouts

Volunteering is a pretty big part of my life.

I'm involved in Scouting at several levels — locally through my District (Basingstoke East) and County (Hampshire), as well as nationally through UK Headquarters.

My roles change over time, so I tend not to define myself by a job title. In practice, I help wherever my experience is useful: supporting volunteers, organising events, solving operational problems, improving systems and communications, and helping teams turn plans into something that works in the real world.

I also help run a number of Scout events, which is probably where my work and volunteering overlap most naturally: lots of people, lots of moving parts, and a strong preference for making everything look much simpler than it really is.
